NIKOLA PASIC was a great Serbian statesman who left a deep, indelible imprint with the policies he pursued and his governing of the state. His name and work are closely connected to Serbia's greatest successes in the Customs War with the Austro-Hungarian Empire, in the Balkan wars, in the First World War, and in the earliest beginnings of parliamentary life in our country. Pasic is one of the statesmen who succeeded in destroying two empires - the Ottoman and then the Hapsburg. Nikola Pasic spent half a century in Serbia's public and government life. His successes and statesmanship assured him a prominent place not only in Serbia's history but in the history of the world.
