JAN BACUR, naive painter from the Banat village of Padina, finds the essence of his artistic creativity in reminiscing about his childhood, painting a disappearing world with inspirational devotion. Jan Bacur completed secondary school in the nearby town of Kovacica. After his first-man show, the spark of love towards painting turned into a blaze. He knew that there was a circle of naive painters in Kovacica who had already made a name for themselves. His painting is based on direct experience with life, but also with the dream world. His artistic sensitivity, fascinated with the past, was to some extent inspired by his job of thirty years. Jan Bacur spent his active life in the Padina town hall as the registrar and was a chronicler of sorts of his homeland.
